Epic premiere for our choral visualiser

Alchemivision was privileged to see its latest work premièred at the legendary Alexandrinsky Theatre in St Petersburg on 25th May 2022.

Our team created a visualiser for the contemporary choral track ‘Remissionem’ by artist SymphoCat. Based on imagery of oceans and water motion, and with an emphasis on depth, darkness and drama, it was fitting to see its public launch on the New Stage of Russia’s oldest national theatre.

The timeline of the visualiser is richly layered. The choral requiem was composed in 1605 by Tomas Luís de Victoria, 150 years before the most progressive theatre in Russia opened its doors in 1756. The performance of the piece by the Westminster Cathedral Choir was recorded in 1987, and then sampled by SymphoCat in 2021 for ‘Remissionem’, which also uses field recordings of ocean waves.

The 2022 visualiser brings together these elements to help viewers experience the music in a new, heightened sensorial way. It was shot using state-of-the-art RED cameras at multiple locations, including the Reynisfjara Icelandic Black Sea, the Galicia shores on the Northwestern Iberian Peninsula and along the Maine coastline, USA.

See the visualiser in 4k at Screen 10.
